Your help is needed: ROSALIE SORRELS is one of the major folk musicians of our era. Just a few years ago she gave a stupendous solo concert at First Encounter Coffeehouse. She’s 79, has always lived a simple life. Now she can no longer work, and as much as her kids and the folk community have helped her, the cabin is barely livable, and it’s her home. She needs our help to fix up her cabin. Since 1974, First Encounter has been a premiere venue on Cape Cod for the enjoyment of live acoustic music of all kinds; including blues, traditional and contemporary folk, bluegrass, gospel and more. We are a non-profit organization staffed completely by volunteers. Concerts are held twice each month throughout the year. First Encounter provides a rare opportunity to listen to a variety of fine music in a smoke and alcohol free environment. We offer home-baked treats and hot and cold beverages. Children are welcome and admitted free, so it’s a great place to go as a family.
